Farming

Matt and I are in Illinois (round 2). Currently, Matt and my brother-in-law David are still sleeping while Kim blow dries her hair and I have been up for almost an hour. We are going to leave to visit my grandparents in about half an hour.

My grandparents are farmers, which I think is about the most interesting piece of heritage I have. Well, at least it ranks pretty high. FARMERS. My grandmother got married when she was 17 and has since spent the rest of her life cultivating the land. It's like a romantic Edna Ferber book.

Last year, she made home made summer sausage. I wasn't even aware that you can make that home made. She is also Italian and used to make home made noodles. As in - she MADE the actual NOODLE. I think that is incredible.

Not to mention that to this day she faithfully serves my grandpa as a MORE than adequate helpmate, another thing I think highly admirable (perhaps more than the noodle thing).

I'm looking forward to bacon and eggs and weak coffee over the breakfast table this morning.

AND I'm reading through the life of David (I started with Samuel, actually, because I feel as though it all runs together). I recently got to the part of Abigail. I recently also decided I think I want to name one of our daughters, if we have one, Abigail (Matt approves). Do you know about Abigail? I think she is freaking awesome.

Read about Abigail being awesome.

A plague on both your houses...

Indeed!

Matt and I have been SICK! Matt has been sick since Friday and he got his nasty germs on me, and then I got sick. Last night we went to bed at 8pm. We woke up at 6:30am. Pathetic.

Matt got out of school early yesterday so we laid in bed and watched Shrek! The donkey cracks me up. I can't believe I watched a whole movie in one sitting. Matt said he was proud.

We are heading up to Ft. Worth tomorrow, and then to Illinois on Friday. It's supposed to snow the days we are there. Que cold!

I have been bored out of my mind without any school to occupy myself with. I'm looking forward to orientation and starting in the Spring. Let's get this academic show on the road!

Its my last day to work at Wendell and Mary Jane's before Christmas! I gave them their Colorado jam this morning. Mary Jane was freaking out she was so excited. It was a good time.

I have nothing to say. But I wanted to proactively blog.
Ta da!

boring.

Life is sort of boring when you aren't in school and aren't employed full-time.

Except for Wed 7a-3, Fri 7a-3p and every other Fri 3p-8 and Sat 8a-8p - I have absolutely nothing to do.

Call me up! I'm free, I guarantee it.

just thoughts

Why not blog? I read eric and therese's blog and I got jealous. So i'm doing it to be just like them! (I have little sister syndrome. bad.)

So, I did it. I beat on the door until they let me in. Going to UT in the spring and that, ladies and gentleman, is the last time I am transfering schools. 5 schools is enough I think. I'm capping it off. Who knows when I'll finish. I can't decide just how quickly I want it to go. I guess it depends on how much I enjoy football season next fall. It feel stranges to actually be a "longhorn". I was always the girl whose friends were all longhorns... although, most of them unenthusiastically. Both meagan and matt have not attended ONE football game while at UT. Madness. I plan to buy a sports pass and scream my lungs out. It's not Kyle field, but that dream died long ago. Probably senior year when I had to stay behind in Keller. Getting into UT was a battle against the intellectuals. I think it was my stellar essays that finally pushed me in or maybe it was Wendell... it doesn't matter really. All that matters is that ME and my Tx State 4.0 are attending classes at the University of Texas - Austin next semester. And my degree will say "UT" and they will probably leave it outside in the yard when they deliver it, just like they did Matt's. *shakes head*

There we are at the Malt Shoppe in Pagosa. 2 huge shakes, one giant sundae and a bowl of waffle fries later. We need to go back for New Year's next year. We'll fly a special couple in from Serbia.. or Egypt. Or the African jungle...who knows where they will be.

and there we are after the 13.1. My OJ was frozen... very upsetting.
And we're doing it again - Feb 17th in Austin! (the t-shirts are much cooler this time.)
Christmas is soon. Which means family and Illinois...and of course, gondola.
I was born in Normal and I think my dad went to college there.

Or maybe my mom? (sorry, no picture.)
One of them did. Either way...good gondola.

The following is a series of funny pictures from the rehearsal dinner that were not facebooked. They are from Nathanael's roles.

This is me. Eating a chip that tasted very good.

This is matt and I looking very, very, very over our rehearsal dinner. Note how matt checks his watch and I am making a slight "duck face".

This is Matt probably asking me how many chips I have eaten. I seem to be looking to the chip itself for some sort of confirmation.

This is Hayden. He is Matt's cousin's little boy. Very cute. Very sweet.

This is me exclaiming how Hayden just threw up on me after eating a chip. :)
